LifeSaverXP Features
LifeSaverXP 6.1 is made up of two main components:
1. System File Backup (WinNT4/2K/XP)
2. Custom File Backup (WinNT4/2K/XP)
System File Backup (WinNT4/2K/XP)
The LifeSaverXP System File Backup component is a Windows NT4/2K/XP configuration file backup and restore utility. This component of LifeSaverXP can be used to recover from problems due to corrupt configuration files or changes to configuration files which can not be undone. Configuration files can be modified by installing new software or hardware, or changing properties in your system configuration. You should backup your configuration files before altering them, allowing you to restore them if you can not undo the changes. Restoring any configuration files should only be done as a last resort if you can not manually restore them to a previous state or if they have become corrupt. (Click here for a sample screen.)
Custom File Backup (WinNT4/2K/XP)
The LifeSaverXP Custom File Backup component is a Windows NT4/2K/XP generic file backup and restore utility. LifeSaverXP can backup up to 4GB of custom data per drive. This component of LifeSaverXP can be used to backup/restore a directory with or without subdirectories. You can use wildcards to select files to backup or restore. The Custom File backups use built-in ZIP compression that is compatible with PkZip and WinZip (you do not need either program to use the Custom File component). Define Custom Backup Groups of files and/or folders. You can easily create a backup using any combination of groups, including from the command-line. Select files and/or folders to include and exclude while creating a backup or restoring files. (Click here for a sample screen.)
